Elizabeth (Liz) Eschen, mezzo soprano

Mezzo-soprano Elizabeth Eschen makes her home in the Boston area, where her work lives at the intersection of choral music and vocal pedagogy. A lifelong choral singer, her credits range from founding member of Lorelei Ensemble, to Carmen with Boston Lyric Opera, to the Studio Cast Album of Alan Menken’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame. She has extensive experience in the music of Bach and oratorio, and performs regularly with Handel & Haydn Society, Emmanuel Music (soloist), Boston Baroque, and Oregon Bach Festival. Recent solo engagements include Cantata Singers (BWV 72), Albany Pro Musica (Rachmaninoff All-Night Vigil), Harvard-Radcliffe Collegium Musicum (Mozart Requiem), Harvard-Radcliffe Chorus (Vivaldi Gloria), and Rhode Island Civic Chorale (Handel Messiah).

She is the Director of the Holden Voice Program and Teaching Fellow at Harvard University, where she integrates vocal function into the curriculum of the Harvard Choruses. She is honored to serve as the President of the Boston Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and believes strongly in working for access, equity, and belonging in the singing field. She holds degrees in conducting (M.M, Boston University) and voice (B.A, Providence College), and strives to learn as much as she can about the human body, mind, and soul.  www.elizabetheschen.com   www.BeyondArtists.org
