Jessica Cooper, Founder and Artistic Director

Jessica Cooper is on the faculty at the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and has been curating and directing programmes for the Henry Purcell Society since 2013. Her previous experience includes independent projects such as the Piazzolla Project: a series of concerts dedicated to Astor Piazzolla's vocal tangos as featured on WGBH radio in 2006.  From 2010 to 2012, she developed programs and performed with Cyprian Consort, a viol consort dedicated to the repertoire written for lute, viola da gamba and voices. Ms. Cooper appears regularly with the Handel and Haydn Society and Boston Baroque ensembles. You may visit her artist page here.

William Chapman, Co-founder

Mr. Chapman is an attorney with Melick and Porter law firm in Boston, where he has been practicing law since 1988. His father, Dave Chapman, was a highly regarded Big Band saxophone player who played with top tier groups such as Herb Pomeroy and Artie Shaw.  A self-proclaimed devotee of the music of Henry Purcell, Chapman describes Purcell’s music as “always textured, touching, deep, and beautiful.” Mr. Chapman incorporated the Society in 2013, and has continued to support the organization. If you see him at a concert, be sure to meet him!
