March 22, 2019 8pm | St. Paul's Cathedral, 138 Tremont Street, Boston
Tickets: $60, $40 | $25 student/ senior

Featuring David McFerrin  (Neptune), Deborah Selig (Amphytrite), Charles Blandy (Aeolus), Sarah Yanovitch (Ariel), Luke Scott (1st devil), and Sumner Thompson (2nd Devil), with the Henry Purcell Society of Boston Ensemble.

Long attributed to Henry Purcell, but more aptly described as"Purcell & Friends," this adaptation of Shakespeare's The Tempest  features the works of several composers: Pelham Humfrey, John Weldon, Matthew Locke, John Banister, Giovanni Battista Draghi, Pietro Reggio and Jean- Baptiste Lully among others. This work was written and re-written for the stage in at least three recognizable versions.  Led by Ian Watson from the harpsichord, the Henry Purcell Society of Boston will re-create the work yet again- using music from the 1674 versions and adding music curated by historian James Winn to showcase our phenomenal musicians.
